🇹🇼 Gemini 4 Carbon

  • SEC-bench Pro(找漏洞):88.2%
  • ExploitGym(寫利用程式):54.8%,比前代的 42% 大幅提升
  • CWE-bench(修補漏洞):71.0%

🇺🇸 Gemini 4 Carbon Review: Benchmark King, Locked Out

Gemini 4 Carbon is Google DeepMind's newest flagship model, released on October 28, 2026, built around two things: long-running agentic coding and cybersecurity defense. It immediately took the top spot on independent evaluator Artificial Analysis's Intelligence Index v5.0, scoring 59 — ahead of Claude Opus 5.5 (58) and GPT-6 Astra (57).

Benchmark Leader, But Not a Clean Sweep

The good news first: on Terminal-Bench 4.0 (real terminal-task simulation), Gemini 4 Carbon scores 65.2%, clearly ahead of Opus 5.5's 59.6%. Security benchmarks look strong too:

  • SEC-bench Pro (vulnerability finding): 88.2%
  • ExploitGym (exploit writing): 54.8%, up sharply from 42% in the prior generation
  • CWE-bench (patching): 71.0%

But Gemini 4 Carbon doesn't win everywhere. On the cost-adjusted FrontierCode 2.0 benchmark, it scores only 40% at $4.04 per task — actually behind Opus 5.5's 45.5%. "Top of the leaderboard" depends heavily on which benchmark you pick, not a blanket win.

The Real Story: You Can't Get Access

This is the part that actually matters. Gemini 4 Carbon is currently restricted to invited participants in Google's "Fairwind Program" and cyber-defense testers working with the U.S. government — regular developers are locked out entirely. Google says broader access is coming "as soon as possible," with no timeline given. When it does roll out, pricing will initially match Argon's rates ($2 per million input tokens, $10 per million output tokens), rising later to $4 and $20.

What This Means for Developers

If you're a working engineer, Gemini 4 Carbon is useless to you this week — no amount of asking gets you in. Google's reasoning is straightforward: a model this much better at finding and exploiting vulnerabilities needs safeguards verified before wider release. For now, coding agents still mean Opus 5.5, GPT-6 Astra, or the previous-gen Gemini 3 Argon. Save judgment on Carbon until it's actually open — benchmark charts aren't the same as hands-on use.

You won't know until you try it — except this time, Google decides who gets to try.
