最近開源AI圈最值得關注的新聞，是Bilibili旗下Index團隊開源了Index-Translate翻譯模型家族，以阿里Qwen3.5為基礎，一口氣支援150種語言，而且採用幾乎沒有限制的Apache 2.0授權。對常需要跨語言溝通、做字幕、處理多國語言文件的人來說，這是一個可以免費下載、在自己電腦上跑的翻譯工具，不必再付費叫用Google Translate或DeepL的API。

Index-Translate是什麼：三種大小任你選

Index-Translate不是單一模型，而是一個家族，目前釋出2B、9B，以及還在預覽階段的35B-A3B（Mixture-of-Experts架構，每次只啟動約30億參數）三種大小。除了純文字翻譯本體，家族裡還包含：

  • Index-Echo：保留原始說話者聲音特色的字幕與配音翻譯
  • Index-Homura：可控制翻譯後音節數，方便對嘴配音
  • Index-NativeLong：長文件翻譯，能維持前後文用詞一致

官方也附上瀏覽器擴充套件，可接本機部署的模型直接翻譯網頁，對在意資料隱私、不想把內容傳到國外伺服器的使用者是個加分項。

實測比較：跟Google Translate、DeepL誰強

根據目前公開的測試數據與社群回饋，DeepL在歐洲語系（英德法西）翻譯品質上仍是公認第一，BLEU分數明顯領先Google Translate；但在中日韓等亞洲語言，ChatGPT、Claude這類LLM式翻譯反而更有優勢。Index-Translate瞄準的正是這個缺口——用LLM的語意理解能力做翻譯，並特別針對中文語境和150種語言（含不少小語種）做優化。免費又能本機部署，是它最大的賣點，而不是宣稱「贏過DeepL」。

誰適合用Index-Translate

如果你是開發者，想把翻譯功能內嵌進自己的App或字幕工具，Apache 2.0授權代表可以直接商用，不必擔心授權糾紛。如果你常處理小語種、或擔心資料外流到第三方API，本機部署版本也是實用選擇。但如果只是偶爾翻譯幾句話，直接用Google Translate或DeepL網頁版可能還是比較省事。

限制與該注意的地方

35B-A3B版本仍在預覽階段，還沒有正式穩定版；要順跑9B以上的模型，建議至少要有一張消費級顯卡（如RTX 4090）；GitHub上目前星數還不算多（約300多顆星），代表社群生態仍在起步，文件與教學也不如DeepL、Google Translate成熟。這些都是評估要不要導入前該考慮的現實面。

Index-Translate證明了中文AI圈願意投入資源做開源翻譯模型，對預算有限又在意資料隱私的團隊是個值得關注的選項。好不好用，試了才知道。

Index-Translate is the open-source translation model family that Bilibili's Index team just released, built on Qwen3.5 and covering 150 languages under the permissive Apache 2.0 license. For developers and teams who need multilingual support without paying per-call API fees — or without sending text to a third-party server — this is one of the more interesting open-source AI releases this week.

What's Inside the Index-Translate Family

Index-Translate ships in three sizes: 2B, 9B, and a preview 35B-A3B mixture-of-experts model that activates roughly 3 billion parameters per token. Beyond plain text translation, the family includes:

  • Index-Echo — translated subtitles or dubbed speech that preserves the original speaker's voice
  • Index-Homura — syllable-controlled translation for lip-sync dubbing
  • Index-NativeLong — full-document translation that keeps terminology consistent across pages

There's also a browser extension that runs against a locally-hosted model, letting you translate web pages without sending data to any cloud API — a real plus if privacy matters to your workflow.

How It Stacks Up Against Google Translate and DeepL

Public benchmarks still show DeepL leading on European language pairs (EN↔DE/FR/ES) by a clear BLEU-score margin over Google Translate, while LLM-based translators like ChatGPT and Claude tend to edge ahead on Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Index-Translate isn't claiming to beat DeepL outright — its pitch is different: free, self-hostable, LLM-grade translation tuned specifically for Chinese-language contexts and 150 languages, including many lower-resource ones DeepL doesn't cover at all.

Who Should Actually Use It

If you're a developer embedding translation into an app or subtitle pipeline, the Apache 2.0 license means you can ship it commercially with no licensing headache. If you work with lower-resource languages or need to keep data off third-party servers, self-hosting Index-Translate is a genuinely practical option. If you just need to translate a sentence occasionally, Google Translate or DeepL's web app is still the path of least resistance.

Limitations Worth Knowing

The 35B-A3B model is still preview-only, not production-stable. Running the 9B model comfortably needs a decent consumer GPU (something like an RTX 4090). The GitHub repo currently sits around 300 stars, so tooling, documentation, and community support are still early compared to mature commercial APIs — factor that into any adoption decision.

Index-Translate is a solid sign that open-source translation models are catching up fast, especially for teams on a budget or with data-privacy constraints. Good or not? Only testing it will tell — 好不好用，試了才知道。
