Honest Take: Accuracy, Battery, and Privacy Trade-Offs

The limits first: Plus subscribers get a monthly usage cap on mobile voice agent tasks, and web-based agent tasks are metered too -- heavier tasks burn more credit. The more practical annoyance is that voice agent mode drains battery and data noticeably faster than plain voice chat, since it's running background browser actions the whole time.

Privacy is the bigger issue. When ChatGPT's agent logs into a site or enables an app on your behalf, it inherits your account-level access -- email, files, account settings are all in scope, which means prompt injection is a real, not theoretical, risk. OpenAI's mitigation is pausing for confirmation before "high-stakes" actions -- payments, sending emails, posting publicly, booking non-refundable travel -- and running everything in an isolated cloud sandbox rather than controlling your phone's OS directly. That's not a guarantee, though: hallucinations and execution errors remain the top concern for anything touching money or outbound communication.

If you only use voice for quick Q&A, this update barely changes anything. But if you're often away from your keyboard and need to hand off a string of tasks verbally, ChatGPT's voice agent is worth trying -- just don't let it handle payments or bookings without a confirmation step.
