Pion評測要先講重點：AI新創Andon Labs在9月14日開放Pion平台，讓任何人都能派AI Agent進駐真實公司做AI自主經營，不再只是模擬測試。但目前唯一的公開實績——舊金山實體店Andon Market——半年下來燒掉4萬美元還沒轉虧為盈，說明這件事離「AI自己開公司賺錢」還有明顯距離。

Pion is Andon Labs' new platform, launched September 14, 2026, that lets anyone hand a real business over to an AI agent running a company autonomously — not just in simulation. But the only public track record so far, a physical San Francisco store called Andon Market, has burned through $40,000 in six months without turning a profit, which shows how far "AI running a business" still is from actually working.

What Is Pion and What Does It Do?

Pion is a cloud platform that gives AI agents persistent access to a bank account, communication tools, and browser automation so they can run a real company over time. It's currently available as a research preview for outside teams.

It didn't come out of nowhere. Andon Labs started with Vending-Bench, a late-2024 simulation testing whether language models could sustain a vending machine business. They then installed a real AI-run vending machine at Anthropic's office in early 2025 — it lost money at first, then turned profitable by late 2025 as the underlying models improved. In April 2026, the experiment scaled up to Andon Market, a retail store in San Francisco, and Andon Cafe in Stockholm, moving from "manage one machine" to "manage a whole storefront."

Can an AI Agent Actually Run a Business Profitably?

Not yet, based on what's public. The agent running Andon Market, nicknamed Luna, started with a $100,000 budget, a corporate card, and internet access. By September it was down to $60,000, with revenue nowhere close to covering the AI's own compute costs. Reporters who visited found almost no customers, shelves stocked with random white-elephant-style items, an agent that kept over-ordering candles, and basic tasks like staff scheduling handled poorly.

Is Pion Worth Trying Right Now?

If you're a researcher or team curious about where agentic AI actually breaks, Pion gives you a rare real-world testbed instead of another simulation. If you're hoping it can replace a store manager today, temper expectations:

Strength: real banking, messaging, and browser-automation integrations make failures more honest than sandboxed benchmarks
Weakness: agents still struggle with common-sense judgment calls — inventory mix, order quantities, scheduling
Cost: token spend can outpace revenue, so the underlying business model is unproven

Pion's real contribution is opening the question "can AI run a company on its own?" up to outside testing, rather than delivering a ready-to-use autonomous management tool.

Good or not, you won't know until you try it yourself.
