Firefox Smart Window 是 Mozilla 內建的 AI 瀏覽助手，這波找來歐洲開源模型公司 Mistral AI 當引擎，主打「對話預設不存、多語言在地化訓練」。9 月中旬先在美國、加拿大開放，法國跟進，英國、德國預計年底前上線，是這個月瀏覽器圈最值得關注的 AI 話題之一。

什麼是 Firefox Smart Window？

Smart Window 是 Firefox 的獨立 AI 分頁模式，把助手整合進瀏覽體驗：整理分頁、抓重點、比對多個來源答案，還能記得你點開又關掉的頁面。開啟路徑是設定 → AI 控制項 → Smart Window，右上角有圖示可以隨時切回一般視窗。

Mistral 加入之後差在哪？

Firefox Smart Window is Mozilla's built-in AI browsing assistant, and it just got a new engine: European open-model maker Mistral AI. The pitch is simple — conversations aren't stored by default, and the models are trained for real multilingual use, not just English translated on the fly. The rollout started in the US and Canada in mid-September, with France following and the UK and Germany expected by year-end.

What Is Firefox Smart Window?

Smart Window is a dedicated AI tab mode inside Firefox that organizes tabs, summarizes pages, cross-checks answers across sources, and remembers pages you clicked away from. You can turn it on via Settings → AI Controls → Smart Window, and switch back to a normal window anytime with the icon in the top-right corner.

What Changes With Mistral Powering It?

The default model is now Mistral Small 4, and the partnership leans on two claims: conversations aren't saved on Mozilla's servers by default, and Mistral has agreed to zero data retention. On the language side, Mistral trained separately on regional dialects and cultural context instead of bolting translation onto an English-first model. You can still pick a different model from the picker — Mistral isn't the only option.

Is It Actually More Private?

The "we don't store your data" claim is currently vendor-stated, with no independent audit public yet, and Smart Window is still in beta — features and data policies can change. The direction is a genuine improvement over ad-funded browsers, but treat "zero retention" as a claim to verify, not a settled fact.

Is Firefox Smart Window Worth Trying?

  • Answer checking: cross-references sources via an Exa partnership to reduce single-model hallucination
  • Tab management: auto-groups tabs and flags duplicates — useful if you're a serial tab hoarder
  • Visual history search: find a page you closed by browsing screenshots instead of digging through history
  • Availability: currently limited to the US, Canada, and France — everyone else waits

Compared to the AI assistants baked into Chrome and Edge, Firefox Smart Window's pitch is clear: open models plus privacy-first defaults, not harvesting your browsing data to train the next model. That's an honest selling point for users tired of being quietly profiled — but the feature set is still catching up, not yet a "can't go back" upgrade.
