How Will This Change Design Work?

Adobe frames it precisely: designers become creative directors. Previously you executed every step manually. Now you define direction while AI handles execution. This does not replace designers but offloads repetitive operations so they can focus on creative decisions.

However, this means purely execution-focused design work — retouching, templating, batch exports — will be significantly compressed. Future designers need stronger direction skills: knowing how to describe desired outcomes, not just operate tools.

Kit's Take

Adobe played this move well. Rather than building a standalone AI tool to compete with Midjourney, they injected an AI Agent into their existing professional toolchain. Millions of paying Creative Cloud subscribers represent an instant market.

The Anthropic partnership is also interesting — it effectively makes Claude an external interface for Adobe. If you already work with Claude daily, you might soon direct photo editing or video cuts from the same conversation.

My only concern is multi-app orchestration reliability. Automated workflows spanning three or four apps will cascade-fail if any step goes wrong. That part needs the beta to prove out.
