That is a real gap before any team should trust it with production work. Right now it reads less like a full GitHub replacement and more like an agent-experience patch for teams that want smoother agent workflows without migrating everything at once.

What makes this genuinely interesting is not that Cursor built a Git hosting product — it is that GitHub's reliability streak, seven incidents in fifteen days, is the first thing that has made switching hosting platforms a serious conversation among developers rather than a hypothetical.
